Heart of the Beast, David Ayer’s newest thriller starring Brad Pitt, has been added to the lineup of films at the San Sebastián Film Festival. The Spanish film festival will screen the film ahead of its official release and will have Brad Pitt and David Ayer in attendance to introduce the film.
Heart of the Beast follows James Belmont (Pitt), a former Army Special Forces soldier, who must do whatever it takes to survive and make it home after his plane crashes in the wilderness. He has only his wits and his trusty retired service dog, Odin, to assist him on his journey. The film also stars J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe. It is written by Cameron Alexander and directed by David Ayer. Sony Pictures is distributing the film.
David Ayer is off the heels of two Jason Statham action flicks, The Beekeeper and A Working Man. Brad Pitt was the star of last year’s summer hit and Best Picture Nominee F1. Aside from Heart of the Beast, Pitt is also reprising his role as Cliff Booth in The Adventures of Cliff Booth for Netflix. The actor won an Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in his last outing as the character. Heart of the Beast will be a reunion between Ayer and Pitt, as the two of them worked together on Fury in 2014.
San Sebastián runs from September 18-26. The film will officially release not long after, hitting theaters on September 25.
