‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ Gets A Brand New Trailer

There’s something threatening the streets of New York, and the only one you can call for help are the Ghostbusters. Sony recently unveiled a second trailer for the upcoming Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Connecting itself directly to the 1984 classic, Ghostbusters: Afterlife established a brand new generation of Ghostbusters, in the form of Egon Spengler’s grandchildren. Now, in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Egon’s family has to team up with the original Ghostbusters to take down a poltergeist threatening to bring about a new ice age.

However, as The Hollywood Reporter points out, an old rival reappears to give the group more trouble than they already need. Walter Peck, trying to bring down the Ghostbusters since the first film, is back to try and tear down the group, and discredit them once again before they have a chance to save humanity.

Returning from Afterlife is Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and McKenna Grace, forming up Egon’s family, starting alongside franchise veterans Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson. Also returning is Annie Potts, as secretary Janine Melnitz, and William Atherton, as Walter Peck.

With the returning cast come series newcomers Patton Oswalt and Kumail Nanjiani, with Logan Kim and Celeste O’Connor.

This time around, the film will be directed by Gil Kenan, who is also writing the movie with Jason Reitman. Producers include Jason and Ivan Reitman with Jason Blumenfeld. Executive producers include JoAnn Perritano, Amie Karp, Erica Mills, and Eric Reich. Kenan and Aykroyd also serve as executive producers on the project.
