‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ Debuts First-Look Photo of Cast

The long-awaited Ghostbusters: Afterlife seems to finally be on its way to the theaters. The film, direct follow-up to 1989’s Ghostbusters II, was first scheduled to be released in July 2020, but due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, it was pushed to March 2021. On Monday morning, Empire Magazine released first look photos of the new and young cast, including stars Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Mckenna Grace (Annabelle Comes Home), as well as newcomer Logan Kim. Wolfhard and Grace will play Trevor and Phoebe, siblings who move back into their grandfather’s house, and the two discover that their grandfather has a connection to the original Ghostbusters team.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is directed by Jason Reitman, who is the son of Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II director Ivan Reitman. Jason told Empire Magazine: “My father hasn’t been leaving the house much because of Covid. But he took a test, put on a mask and drove down to the Sony lot to watch the movie with the studio. And after, he cried, and he said, ‘I’m so proud to be your father.’ And it was one of the great moments of my life”.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife will include a star-studded cast with original Ghostbusters stars such as Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd and Annie Potts. According to Murray, the film will honor the legacy of the character Egon, who was played by the late Harold Ramis in the original Ghostbusters movies. The film has a official release date of June 2021, for now.

Melissa Cusano: I love to escape reality with reading, writing, movies, and music! If I'm not working I love to go to concerts (pre-covid), play video games, and hang out with my dog Ozzi.
