Focus Features Buys Armageddon Time for $15 Million

Focus Features recently closed a 15 million dollar deal Armageddon Time, a new James Gray film. The highly anticipated film is a massive project and has garnered tons of press coverage in the previous months. It was a huge title in the Cannes Virtual Market back in June.

The new film is a star-studded project with Robert De NiroOscar IsaacDonald SutherlandAnne Hathaway, and Cate Blanchett all on board.

Of the project, Gray stated, “It’s really a dream come true for me–to do this kind of personal story and do it for such a wonderful partner in Focus Features. I could not ask for a better home for this film.”

The film is a very personal project to Gray and is a coming of age story, but the specific details of the plot are being kept under wraps. Gray both directed and wrote the script for the film.

While the project has just been sold, there is no word on any formal release date. The release will no doubt be impacted by the coronavirus and social distancing precautions. As theatres across the country remain closed, many films are unable to be released traditionally.
