Today brought us the first official trailer for the upcoming film Lying and Stealing. This American crime drama film is directed by Matt Aselton from screenplay he penned with Adam Nagata. It stars Theo James and Emily Ratajkowski as the films leads.

Lying and Stealing’s synopsis reads “Ivan (James), a successful art thief, inherited his father’s life of crime, but unlike most thieves, Ivan loves the art as much as the art of the steal. He longs to break free from the criminal world, but he’s in so deep he may never get out. That is until he meets Elyse (Ratajkowski), an actress and a con-woman with her own chaotic past she wants to escape from. Together, they team up to pull off the ultimate heist which won’t make them rich, but will set them free.”

The trailer displays James and his familiarity with the world of crime, yet also his desire to leave. We see footage of him and Ratajkowski teaming up in order to pull over grander heists, until the two run into trouble. Tensions are high and the danger heightens as James is outed by a tailing FBI agent and the two must pull off one last stunt in order to rid themselves of the crime lifestyle.

The film will be distributed in theaters by Vertical Entertainment when it released on June 12th. It will also be exclusively available on DirecTV on June 13th. You can check out the trailer below.

Robert Thornson Jr.: My name is Robert and I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of California Irvine. I am pursuing a B.A. in Film and Media studies with hopes to work in the creative industry. I have always had a passion for storytelling and since youth I've loved film. I grew up loving the movies of directors like Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, and many more along with writers such as Aaron Sorkin and Quentin Tarantino. One thing I have always done is write about movies and communicate to others information about the "film community" and the industry as well as about the films themselves. I write creatively on a daily basis.
