‘Ferrari,’ A New Film From Michael Mann Casts Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz, and Shailene Woodley

Deadline has exclusively learned that a new film in the works from Michael Mann entitled Ferrari. 

The film will star Adam Driver, Oscar-nominated for his roles in Marriage Story and BlacKkKlansman, Oscar winner Penélope Cruz, for Best Supporting Actress in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and Shailene Woodley, earning an Emmy nomination for Big Little Lies.

The film will be a biopic revolving around the real-life figure Enzo Ferrari. Driver will be playing the title role of Ferrari, while Cruz will be playing Ferrari’s wife, Laura. Woodley will be playing the role of Ferrari’s mistress, Lina Lardi.

The film will focus on Ferrari’s life in the late 1950s when his company stands on the brink of bankruptcy, and his marriage is in crisis after the death of his son Alfredo. The story will revolve around Ferrari challenging the Mille Miglia race in 1957.

Mann has received four Oscar nominations in his career, three for his work on The Insider and another for The Aviator is set to direct the film. Mann has been trying to get this project off the ground for over 20 years.

The film will begin shooting in Italy this May. The film will be a fun ride for car enthusiasts and those interested in the history of one of the biggest names in automobiles.
