Eva Green seems to be Tim Burton‘s new muse, as she is being considered for starring role in his new film, a Disney live-action remake of Dumbo. The film was written by Ehren Kruger, and he will also produce alongside Justin Springer. The classic ugly duckling tale is about a young elephant who gets mercilessly mocked for his big ears, but in turn is able to make them a positive presence in his life when he learns to take flight.
According to Deadline, they have not yet decided which of the three main roles Green will play, but given her recent track record with Burton, it wouldn’t be surprising to see her signing on. In the last decade, Green’s starred in Burton films such as Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children and Dark Shadows.
Dumbo is the latest in a live-action remake craze that seems to have hit Disney since the success of movies like the Alice in Wonderland franchise and Maleficent, with Cinderella following closely behind and Oscar-winning The Jungle Book released last year. This year, Disney is set to release live-action Beauty and the Beast, and has a Mulan remake in the works, 101 Dalmatians prequel Cruella, and sequels to Mary Poppins and Winnie the Pooh. Disney is working hard to bring all of its animated movie magic to life.
Dumbo has yet to start production. In the meantime, Green will be appearing in Roman Polanski’s Based on a True Story and is gearing up to star as Virginia Woolf in Vita and Virginia.
