Elizabeth Banks to Direct Adaptation of ‘The Grace Year’

Deadline recently revealed that Elizabeth Banks, who starred in films such as The Hunger Games, Spider-Man, and Pitch Perfect trilogies, is going to direct and produce an adaptation of the novel The Grace Year written by Kim Liggett. Banks will produce with her husband Max Handelman through their production company, Brownstone Productions. Details about the film are very thin on the ground at the moment with no date released on when the film will go into production.

Deadline discusses that the primary focus of the novel is on the complex and twisted relationships that girls go through, the decisions that they make in between, and how these hardships shape the women they become in the future. The novel caught on and quickly became an international sensation with Deadline listing France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia, and Hungary— where the rights were being sold at auction.

Banks’ production company helped launch the Pitch Perfect series in which she not only starred in all three but directed the second film in the trilogy. She is also writing, directing, producing, and starring as Bosley in the cinematic reboot of Charlie’s Angels. Banks will helm a movie titled The Greater Good, reportedly a comedic X-Files featuring a romantic relationship in a workplace full of conspiracy theories.
