‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Director Doug Liman Working on Elon Musk Film with Tom Cruise Where Some Scenes Will Be Shot in Space

Doug Liman has officially signed on to direct the ambitious Tom Cruise movie set to be shot in space. The film will be made in collaboration with NASA and Elon Musk.

In addition to directing action hits like Mr. and Mrs. Smith and The Bourne IdentityLiman and Cruise have previously worked together on several films, including Edge of Tomorrow. This film, however, will be Liman’s most ambitious project given its real outer space setting, somewhere no director has ever gone before. In addition to directing, Liman wrote the screenplay and will serve as a producer for the film along with Cruise.

While there is no information on the specifics of how shooting this film will work, NASA and Musk’s SpaceX program have signed on to help with the pre-production stage. The two space agencies will help train the actors and crew on how to survive in an outer space environment and complete their jobs while doing it. They will also help the crew get into space and make sure they have the necessary safety precautions available.

No matter how long or how difficult it takes to make this film work. Liman and Cruise are wholly determined to make it possible. That clearly makes it a film worth watching out for in the near future.
