Harry Potter Films Will Be Available on HBO Max

With the launch of HBO Max today, all eight Harry Potter films will be available for streaming on the brand new platform.

HBO’s brand new streaming service makes its debut today and is available to all paying HBO customers.

HBO previously had the original films on their site but lost a deal to NBC a couple of years ago that gave NBC the rights to on-air and digital screening through 2025. Since NBC had the rights to the films, HBO had to make a new deal with them to collect all of the iconic films onto the streaming service in time for its launch.

The Warner Media company believed it was essential to have these films on their service, with WarnerMedia Entertainment content acquisitions executive stating, “Those discussions will continue on. At some point, you can’t have our experience without having Harry Potter be a part of it.”

Since all theatres are closed due to the coronavirus and social distancing precautions, there’s no doubt that this move by HBO will bring in tons of new viewers to the streaming service.

The new service provides an alternative to other streaming services like Netflix or Hulu and has exclusive content like all of Friends and the upcoming Gossip Girl reboot.
