Disney Plans Expansion for Fox Properties, Including ‘Avatar,’ ‘X-Men,’ ‘Fantastic Four’

Disney is about to acquire new popular franchises in its acquisition of Fox. The merger of the two companies started back in December, and despite some slowdowns, it’s finally moving forward. The paperwork is expected to be complete by summer 2019, which leaves plenty of time for speculation on what Disney is planning to do with its newly acquired licenses.

Some big titles switching over to Disney are Avatar, Planet of the Apes, and the Kingsman series. The rest of the Star Wars movies pre The Force Awakens will now be in the hands of Disney. Does this mean the unaltered original trilogy might be released? There is also big news for comic book fans, as Deadpool, X-Men and The Fantastic Four will be coming back home to Marvel. It looks like Marvel will have a few more heroes to choose from for Phase 4 of the Marvel movies.

Disney is also looking to boost their upcoming streaming service by adding Fox shows to its programming. Big names include The Simpsons, Family Guy, Empire, X-Files, and The Orville.

Fans may be rejoicing that their favorite shows or movies could be revived. The future remains unclear whether this merger will completely alter existing plans at Fox, such as the four planned Avatar movies, or scrap others. What is clear is that Disney is dominating the entertainment industry, and this is a vast territory to claim.
