Disney has released new sneak peak of the upcoming live action adaptation of Dumbo, attached below. This new trailer does not use the famous Baby Mine song, which comes from the original movie and appeared in the first trailer. Instead this latest clip uses a score like that of an action movie, giving the impression that the movie will have some sort of action element to it with some humor. Like previous trailers, this one shows off Dumbo flying around the circus, and gives the audience a brief glimpse of the Pink Elephants on Parade sequence. Some new character posters can also be seen at the Collider.
This sneak peak confirms that Disney is carrying out their decree that none of the animals in this movie will talk. While this major change may be met with criticism from fans of the original film, this decision is probably the best course of action Disney could take. One of the major challenges the filmmakers faced when adapting this movie from the 1941 animated one was updating the crows. Many people have claimed that the crow characters in the original movie are racial stereotypes, and a lot of people have take issue with the fact that not only was one of the crows was named Jim Crow, but he was also voiced by a white man.
This adaptation of Dumbo is directed by Tim Burton and boasts star studded cast featuring Eva Green, Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, and Danny DeVito. The film hits theaters March 29th, 2019.
