Director Guillermo del Toro to Receive Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame August 6th

It was announced today that Mexican-born filmmaker Guillermo del Toro will be honored by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Academy Award-winning director is best known for 2006’s Pan’s Labyrinth, which won del Toro his first Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay, and more recently 2017’s The Shape of Water, which received Oscars for Best Picture, Best Direction, Best Score and Best Production Design. Other films by del Toro include Blade 2Hellboy and its sequel Hellboy: The Golden Army and Pacific Rim.

In a statement released recently by Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Martinez said “Guillermo del Toro is a director with one of the most creative and vivid imaginations. He has his pulse on a realm of fantasy that has captivated and astounded audiences!”

Del Toro will be the 2,669th celebrity to have his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Category of Motion Pictures. His star unveiling will begin at 11:30 a.m. PST on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 and will be live-streamed on http://www.walkoffame.com. Director J. J. Abrams and singer/songwriter Lana Del Rey will be guest speakers at the event and unveil the star with President/CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Rana Ghadban.
