DGene Partners With MTI Film to Restore Old Film Tools Reviving Classic Films and TV Series

According to Deadline, DGene, a new content development company, has partnered up with MTI Film, a post-production specialist or expert, to develop and employ a sophisticated set of film restoration tools. The collaboration’s purpose is to resurrect several vintage films and television series.

DGene’s technology uses artificial intelligence to produce tools for restoring outdated or damaged films and uploading them to streaming sites. It could erase scratches and coloring abnormalities, and if a piece of a reel was lost or damaged during storage, it could be fixed. The firm’s procedure is to make the restoration process go a little bit faster and a little bit cheaper while producing the best high-quality results it can achieve.

“From a technology perspective, our research team at DGene has long been working on building AI-based tools for a variety of industries, and we’re excited to bring the power of artificial intelligence to the entertainment industry. With tech that makes film restoration and editing more efficient and effective, it opens content libraries to be enjoyed by a broad range of audiences,” said Jason Yang, co-founder, and CTO of DGene.

DGene or MTI Film has yet to reveal the particular titles that they will restore under the new agreement between the two companies.

MTI Film has restored over 100 masterpieces, including the 1962 Lawrence of Arabia and 1947 It’s a Wonderful Life, and many more classics.
