Delroy Lindo to Star in Marvel’s ‘Blade’ Alongside Mahershala Ali

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harder They Fall star Delroy Lindo is in negotiations to star in Marvel’s upcoming vampire thriller Blade, alongside Moonlight star Mahershala Ali. Blade does not have a set release date yet, but sources have confirmed that filming will start in the summer of 2022. 

Blade was first brought to the big screens in 1998 starring Wesley Snipes in the lead role. The film was successful and spawned two sequels: Blade II and Blade: Trinity, the latter starring Ryan Reynolds, Jessica Biel, and Kris Kristofferson reprising his role as Blade’s closest confidant, Abraham Whistler. 

Marvel first announced the remake for Blade during ComicCon in 2019. When Mahershala Ali was announced to be the new Blade, Wesley Snipes offered a few words of advice to the two-time Academy Award winner. 

“Make sure you’re in shape. Try not to get hurt. That’s big. The demands of action movies, you gotta be an elite athlete and be well-conditioned to survive it and to avoid injury. And enjoy it while it lasts,” said Snipes in an interview with Yahoo! Movies.   

Delroy Lindo is a British born American actor who has been in films such as: Crooklyn, Clockers, Malcolm X, Get Shorty, and Da 5 Bloods, that starred Chadwick Boseman in one of his final performances. His character in Marvel’s upcoming Blade has not been shared with the public yet.
