DC Releases Dates For ‘Batman II’ And James Gunn’s ‘Superman: Legacy’

As part of the announcement of the new DC Universe Chapter One, Gods and Monsters, by James Gunn and Peter Safran, the two announced that the Gunn-written Superman Legacy will have a July 11, 2025, theatrical release date, with Matt Reeves DC else-world Batman II has been announced for a release date of October 3, 2025.

Warner had already put both dates on hold on the calendar for the untitled DC movie’s theatrical release. Meanwhile, no other studio had reserved the title against them at the time.

As of now, there is still no director for Gunn’s Superman Legacy. However, Safran hinted yesterday that he’d like the Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker to direct. He recalled. “This is just the beginning of his DCU,” he said.

Deadline writes: “It’s not an origins story, it focuses on Superman’s balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He’s the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, he’s kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old fashioned,” says Safran. As previously announced a new actor will be cast for the role of the Man of Steel.

Reeves’ script for Batman 2 is currently in progress. Gunn and Saffron are planning their Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold, which will be the Dark Knight’s entry into the new DC Universe. No directors, writers, or actors are currently affiliated. The Brave and the Bold is the story of Bruce Wayne and Damian Wayne, who is the stuffy and apostate son he didn’t know he had, and takes on the alias Robin.

Gunn released a video on social media talking about the next project. Watch it below.
