David Leitch Slated to Direct Graphic Novel Adaptation ‘Undying Love’

Deadline recently reported that David Leitch, the director of Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, and co-director of the excellently made John Wick is set to direct a film adaptation of the graphic novel Undying Love. Deadline also stated that the movie will be set in a modern-day Hong Kong where Chinese folklore clashes with reinvented vampire folklore, combining to create an awesome action adventure story.

The creators of the graphic novel, Tomm Coker and Daniel Freedman, have written numerous comics. Tomm Coker has written many Marvel comics with heroes such as Daredevil, Wolverine, and the Avengers mixed with his own original works. Daniel Freedman has written his own series titled Burn the Orphanage.

The movie’s screenwriter will be Tommy Wirkola who has also written and directed films such as Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, Dead Snow, and What Happened to Monday? The film is going to be produced by Studio 8 which also produced Alpha, On Deadly Groundand Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.

The comic is extremely well received and Deadline reports that years ago, this led to a crazy bidding war between Warner Bros. and the two directors Joe Carnahan and Alex Aja— with Warner Bros. winning out.

With director David Leitch’s extensive stylish action movie experience and writer Tommy Wirkola’s previous violent and dystopian works, it is almost certain that they will create a captivating violent and visceral experience that will do justice to the source material.

Keidan Chavez: I am an undergraduate attending Whittier College majoring in screen writing and journalism. I love to watch movies, play Red Dead Redemption 2 and read whenever I get the chance. I will watch anything related to Wright, Tarantino, The Coen Brothers or Nolan. I will also play anything made by Naughty Dog or Rockstar Games. I love being able to experience great stories, especially when I am able to share that experience with others. I also love learning about movies and sharing that knowledge to those that are just as passionate.
