The upcoming spinoff for Ferris Bueller’s Day Off has gained a director in the form of David Katzenberg. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off saw its debut in 1986.
Coming from Paramount, the spinoff is dubbed Sam And Victor’s Day Off, taking place during the John Hughes classic. As Hollywood Reporter states, the film will follow the two garage workers, Sam and Victor, who take care of the highly valuable Ferrari that Ferris Bueller and his friends take to the city. The two workers take out the classy car, and have their own day on the town.
On top of helming Sam And Victor’s Day Off, David Katzenberg’s other credits include producing the new It films, as well as 2019’s Child’s Play.
The original film featured Richard Edson and Larry Flash Jenkins as the workers, starring alongside Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Jeffrey Jones, and Jennifer Grey. Reports of Katzenberg being brought on board were first made by InSneider.
Included as producers on the film are Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald, and Hayden Schlossberg, creators of another 80’s spinoff, Cobra Kai. Cobra Kai follows the antagonist of the 1984 classic, The Karate Kid, as he struggles to navigate life as an adult.
Also included as producer is Paul Young, with executive producer Dina Hiller, and associate producers Stephen Cedars, Scott Yacyshyn, and Stephen Cedars.
