The Motley Crue biopic The Dirt has been receiving quite a bit of casting news recently, with the whole band already formed. Now, the manager of the band has officially been cast, slowly finishing up the main roles for the film. David Costabile, known for his work on Showtime’s Billions, has signed on to play Doc McGhee, the longtime manager of the band, according to Deadline.
The Dirt is the new film that is adapted from the Neil Strauss book The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band, which basically follows the story of Motley Crue. Much of the film will most likely focus on their rise to fame and their heavy abuse of alcohol, sex, and drugs. It will be interesting to see how the film will play out, considering much of the explicit source material. It will also be interesting to see if the film will attempt to tackle their later work (i.e. Saints of Los Angeles, which released in the 2000’s).
The Dirt boasts a fairly strong cast including Douglas Booth, Machine Gun Kelly, Iwan Rheon, and Daniel Webber. The film is being directed by Jeff Tremaine with a script by Rich Wilkes, Tom Kapinos, and Amanda Adelson. It currently does not have a release date, but we can expect to see it sometime in late 2018 or 2019.
