Damian Lewis in Talks to Join ‘Ocean’s Eight’

According to Variety, Emmy winning actor Damian Lewis is in talks to play the villain opposite Sandara Bullock and host of famous ladies in the upcoming estrogen-fueled reboot Ocean’s Eightdirected by Gary Ross (Seabiscuit).

Bullock’s character is the leader of a group of ex cons and thieves who attempting a huge hostage situation. Lewis is in talks to play Bullock’s ex-lover and the target of the heist. Lewis broke out with the award winning performance in the Showtime drama Homeland and more stars in the current Showtime series Billions. On the film end, he has recently appeared in Romeo and JulietOur Kind of Traitor and Werner Herzog’s Queen of the Desert, a film starring Nicole Kidman that has yet to release in the United States.

The film has already confirmed a pack of Hollywood heavyweights including Oscar winners Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway, as well as Emmy winner Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Dakota Fanning and Awkwafina. Matt Damon, who appeared in the first three Ocean’s films is reportedly set to cameo. Ocean’s Eleven director Steve Soderbergh and Ross will produce along with executive producer, Susan Ekins. Village Roadshow is helping to finance, as they have done for the other Ocean films. Production has currently started in New York City. The release date is set for June 8, 2018.
