Star Wars: The Force Awakens breakout Daisy Ridley may have prime gig lined up. Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures has acquired rights to Sonia Purnell’s non-fiction novel A Woman of No Importance with Ridley attached to headline. Bad Robot – a shingle headed by Ridley’s The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams – is looking to produce the title.
The enticing adaptation centers around American heiress and spy Virginia Hall, a real-life and quite determined woman who sought to break into the American Foreign Service in the dawn of World War II. Denied due to her gender as well as a disability – Hall lost a portion of her leg due to a hunting injury – she persevered and eventually joined the British intel unit Special Operations Executive (SOE) and later boarded the OSS, the predecessor to the CIA. The details of the project still appear to be at the earliest stages and no director, writer or other potential talent have come aboard as of yet.
It may takes some time since Ridley has quite a full schedule. The Brit recently wrapped her second outing as Rey in the newly titled Star Wars: The Last Jedi and is currently filming the star-studded remake of the Agatha Christie classic Murder on the Orient Express while also lending her voice to the upcoming animation-hybrid feature Peter Rabbit. Upcoming, Ridley is attached to join Naomi Watts (The Impossible) in the Hamlet re-imagining Ophelia, headline the thriller Kolma for director Marielle Heller (The Diary of Teenage Girl) and star alongside fellow rising Brit Tom Holland in Doug Liman’s science fiction tale Chaos Walking.
