Writer Max Landis (Victor Frankenstein) revealed at Comic-Con that he made successful pitch to Warner Bros. to pen the screenplay for a new animated film featuring the cartoon character of Pepé Le Pew. Landis revealed the news during a Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency panel on Saturday; Landis created the BBC America comedy sci-fi series Dirk Gently.
Pepé Le Pew, the amorous French skunk cartoon character who strolls around Paris on the lookout for love, was first introduced in 1945 through Warner Bros’ Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series.
Landis’ past scripts include the found footage film Chronicle, the stoner action-comedy American Ultra, and the action rom-com Mr. Right. He is emerging in the film world as an exciting creative voice. Currently, he is busy with several writing projects including Lionsgate’s Power Rangers, the fantasy film Bright starring Will Smith (Concussion) and Noomi Rapace (The Drop), and the action-comedy Good Time Gang.
