Actress Clea DuVall (Argo, TV’s American Horror Story) will be making her directorial and screenwriting debut with a full house of television and indie actors. Joining her ranks will be Cobie Smulders (TV’s How I Met Your Mother), Ben Schwartz (TV’s House of Lies), Natasha Lyonne (Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black), Jason Ritter (TV’s Parenthood), Melanie Lynskey (HBO’s Togetherness), Alia Shawkat (TV’s Arrested Development), and Vincent Piazza (HBO’s Boardwalk Empire).
Details have not yet been released on the project, but it is probably safe to assume it will fall somewhere within the comedic genre based on the collective acting history of the cast. DuVall is playing quadruple duty for the film in which she will star and executive produce on top of directing her own script.
Smulders is currently enjoying a busy acting schedule after wrapping production on HIMYM, starring this year in the film festival success Results and appearing in Avengers: Age of Ultron as well as the television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
UCB improv regular Schwartz continues to pop up throughout the TV world, having finished up his run on Parks and Recreation and continuing his work on House of Lies and BoJack Horseman. He will next appear alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt (500 Days of Summer) in The Walk.
Lyonne will next be seen in Sleeping with Other People, in Hello, My Name is Doris with Sally Field (Lincoln), and in Addicted to Fresno with Judy Greer (Jurassic World). Ritter will be appearing with Rose Byrne (Neighbors) and J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) in The Meddler. Lynskey will continue her work on Togetherness and will be starring in the sports drama Life at These Speeds. Piazza will appear with Oscar-winner Patricia Arquette (Boyhood) in The Wannabe, while Shawkat will be seen in the Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) indie Nasty Baby, as well in Green Room with Imogen Poots (Need for Speed), and the adaptation of Adam Green‘s Aladdin with Lyonne and Zoe Kravitz (Insurgent).
