Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated film Tenet has just pushed back its release date for the second time. The latest Batman film from Nolan was initially supposed to premiere in theatres on July 17. However, it then was pushed back to July 31 until yesterday, when the film was delayed even further. Now, it is said to premiere on Aug. 12.
Tenet was hoping to be one of the first films in theatres after the theatre’s closures due to the coronavirus and social distancing precautions. However, given the recent spike in cases across the country, the film has opted to delay the release for the safety of workers.
“Warner Bros. is committed to bringing ‘Tenet’ to audiences in theaters, on the big screen, when exhibitors are ready, and public health officials say it’s time. In this moment what we need to be is flexible, and we are not treating this as a traditional movie release. We are choosing to open the movie mid-week to allow audiences to discover the film in their own time, and we plan to play longer, over an extended play period far beyond the norm, to develop a very different yet successful release strategy, ” said a Warner Bros. spokesperson in a statement.
Tenet is it one of the many films whose releases being pushed back.
