Christopher Nolan Dedicates ‘The Odyssey’ To David Keighley

According to a Facebook post by Geoff Keighley (Minecraft: The Story of Mojang, Muppets Haunted Mansion), Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Oppenheimer) dedicated The Odyssey to David Keighley (Solarmax, Island of the sharks). Keighley was the poster’s father and IMAX mentor to Nolan.

Keighley expresses how his father worked on the Odyssey during its beginning stages and how much significance it held as he stated. He later writes how his father always envisioned IMAX cameras to be filmed in epics instead of documentaries.

Keighley himself stated, “Please keep me alive long enough to finish production of The Odyssey for Chris.”

While he did live long enough to finish photography for the film, he passed away in August 2025 at 77 years old. Read the rest of his son’s words below:

The action/fantasy film stars Anne Hathaway (The Idea of You, One Day), Benny Safdie (The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Happy Gilmore 2), Elliot Page (An American Crime, The Cured), Himesh Patel (Enola Holmes 3, Don’t Look Up), John Leguizamo (Encanto, Ice Age), Jon Bernthal (The Bear, Daredevil: Born Again), Lupita Nyong’o (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Matt Damon (The Martian, Interstellar), Mia Goth (A Cure for Wellness, Infinity Pool), Robert Pattinson (Remember Me, Dune: Part Three), Samantha Morton (The Serpent Queen, Minority Report), Tom Holland (Captain America: Civil War, The Devil All the Time), Zendaya (The Greatest Showman, K.C. Undercover) and more. The film follows Odysseus and his journey back to Ithaca after a decade.

The Odyssey will be released in theaters July 17.
