Last week, we reported that comic Tracy Morgan (30 Rock) is slated for a return to the big screen in the upcoming comedy Fist Fight. The comedy, set to also star Ice Cube (Ride Along) and Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses), revolves around two teachers who battle in an epic fist fight. Now, comes word (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Mad Men actress and six-time Emmy nominee Christina Hendricks (Drive) is in talks to join the comedy.
If it comes to fruition, Hendricks would portray a drama teacher who has a crush on Cube’s character. Richie Keen, veteran television director whose credits include episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Maron, is on board to direct the comedy, marking his feature directorial debut from a script by Van Robichaux and Evan Susser. Joining Cube, Day, Morgan and potentially Hendricks are JoAnna Garcia Swisher (The Astronaut’s Wives Club), Dean Norris (Breaking Bad) and Jillian Bell (22 Jump Street). Fist Fight is set up over at New Line Cinema.
Hendricks recently wrapped her seven year run on the iconic AMC drama Mad Men. Recently, the actress has appeared in the films Drive (2011), Ginger & Rosa (2012), Lost River (2014) and God’s Pocket (2014). On the horizon, the actress is set to appear in the WWI romantic drama The Angel Makers opposite Oscar nominated actress Emily Watson (Everest) and re-team with Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn on the horror film The Neon Demon.
Shooting on Fist Fight is expected to begin in October in Atlanta, with a 2016 release date probable.
