Christian Bale Confirmed for Steve Jobs Biopic

After months of back and forth talks, reports have it that Christian Bale has finally signed on to the upcoming Untitled Steve Jobs Biopic. Director David Fincher (Gone Girl), originally attached to direct the Sony film, was said to have wanted Bale as his lead, but he left the project when talks fell apart, replaced by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire).  Leonardo DiCaprio was rumored to be in the running for the part but chose to commit to a lead role in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant instead.  Boyle capatalized on Bale’s stalled talks to portray detective Travis McGee in the hoped-for franchise The Deep Blue Goodbye, based on the John MacDonald novel.

Bale, who last year starred in Out of the Furnace and American Hustle, is next slated to play Moses in the biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings for director Ridley Scott.

The Untitled Steve Jobs Biopic is based on Walter Issacson’s 2011 biography of the tech icon, and Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network) is set to pen the screen adaptation.
