Charlie Day Becomes an Accidental Movie Star in ‘Fool’s Paradise’ Trailer

Actor Charlie Day plays the role of an accidental movie star in the trailer for his directorial debut, Fool’s Paradise. The actor known for Always Sunny in Philadelphia plays The Fool, a.k.a. Latte Pronto, a man incarcerated in a psychiatric facility after losing his comprehension of the world and, with it, the ability to speak. He was later released from the facility when a doctor said the state would not pay for his care, even though he still needed help.

Shortly after being released, Day is seen wandering around town by Ray Liotta. Liotta picks him up and takes him to the movie set to finish filming Reed’s scene in a Western, played by Day since he refuses to leave the trailer.

In time, The Fool becomes a massive movie star, and people consider his personality traits a silly gamble. In the trailer, he attends movie premieres, talk show appearances, and weddings.

According to the film’s description, Fool’s Paradise is a satirical comedy about an unlucky publicist (Ken Jeong) discovering a recently discharged mental patient (Day) who looks like a misbehaving movie star. A publicist substitutes him in the film and creates a new star. But fame and fortune aren’t all they care about.

Alongside Day, Kate Beckinsale, Adrien Brody, Jason Sudeikis, Edie Falco, John Malkovich, Common, and Jillian Bell are part of the ensemble cast.

The movie hits theaters on May 12. Watch the trailer for Fool’s Paradise below.
