Slender Man became an internet sensation ever since he first appeared back in 2009 as a Creepypasta on the Something Awful forum that was created by Eric Knudsen or “Victor Surge.” Since that time, Slender Man has expanded into many online works; has appeared in two video games; and made national news back in 2014 when a twelve year old was near-fatally stabbed in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Now, Slender Man is coming to the big screen this summer.
The film titled Slender Man will focus on the disappearance of countless children and teenagers. Although the stories are seen as a folklore, a group of young teens set out to debunk the lore of Slender Man when one of their friends goes missing. The film will star Joey King (Going in Style), Julia Goldani Telles (TV’s The Affair), Jaz Sinclair (Paper Towns), and Javier Botet (Insidious: The Last Key) as the title character.
Slender Man will be directed by Sylvain White (The Losers) while the script is being penned by David Birke (13 Sins). Screen Gems is distributing the film and we’ll see Slender Man in theaters on May 18th!
