‘Call Me By Your Name’ Leads Independent Spirit Award Nominations

Film Independent have announced the nominations for their Independent Spirit Awards 2018. The nominees were revealed at an event hosted by actresses Lily Collins and Tessa Thompson at an event in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Nov 21.

Call Me By Your Name walked away with winning 6 nominations — included in categories for Best Feature, Director, Editing, Cinematography, Actor for Timothée Chalamet and Supporting Actor for Armie Hammer. Jordan Peele’s Get Out and the Safdie Brothers’ Good Time both left with 5 nods each, while Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird scored 4 nominations. Based on the films just mentioned, and the other two nominated for Best Feature, – Sean Baker’s The Florida Project and Chloé Zhao’s The Rider – this is the year to celebrate auteur filmmaking.
