Brie Larson and Michael B. Jordan Star in Courtroom Drama ‘Just Mercy’

Brie Larson from Captain Marvel has joined the cast of Just Mercy, book-based courtroom drama also starring Micheal B. Jordan from Black Panther. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has attracted a mixture of outstanding actors: some of them were already famous before getting involved with Marvel projects. Larson was already an Oscar-winner for Room and Jordan was a highly lauded actor for his roles in Fruitvale Station and Creed.

Jordan’s first role in the superhero genre was in 2015’s failed Fantastic Four, after which he quickly moved to his memorable role Adonis Johnson in Creed. Nonetheless, that role was in major competition with the villain Erik Killmonger from Black Panther,  which many people consider him to be a better villain than Thanos in the Marvel universe. Captain Marvel will be Larson’s on-screen MCU debut.

According to Variety, the performers of MCU’s Killmonger and Captain Marvel will soon collaborate together for the first time in a movie, yet it won’t be for Marvel. Larson will join Jordan in the courtroom drama Just Mercy, directed by Larson’s Glass Castle collaborator Destin Cretton (Short Term 12). Just Mercy is adapted from a non-fiction called Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption, written by Bryan Stevenson.

Jordan stars in the lead role as Stevenson, who is described as “a gifted young lawyer fighting for equal justice in a flawed legal system.” The role Larson is playing in the film remains unwrapped. The film will start shooting in Atlanta sometime in September.
