Ben Affleck Rumored to be Starring in Three Stand-Alone Batman Films

Within the past few days, Warner Bros. hosted private screening of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice for an audience of industry execs and studio bosses. The movie was said to have been so well-received that Warner Bros. is now re-thinking their future plans for the DC Universe, which now may include three stand-alone Batman films starring Ben Affleck.

Last month already saw the announcement of one stand-alone film, which Affleck is set to write and direct. The studio seems to have such unwavering confidence in his performance that they are naming Affleck their “definitive Batman” and “are now working their movie universe around Ben’s Batman,” according to source at Den of Geek. Based on past solo superhero successes like Iron Man or Christian Bale’s Batman, this deal could see Affleck in the role for the next ten years or so.

It’s possible that these new plans may have contributed to Warner Bros. pushing the releases of two of Affleck’s upcoming movies  – The Accountant from January 2016 to October 2016, and Live By Night from October 2016 to an undetermined date in 2017. The trilogy of films will also have to be worked into the currently set DC program, which will include two Justice League movies as well as solo films for Wonder Woman and Aquaman

If the rumor turns out to be substantiated, fans will likely get an official announcement by the studio soon. One thing is for sure: the studio is banking on moving away from the Christian Bale-Christopher Nolan Batman era to make ample room for Affleck and Zack Snyder‘s Dawn of Justice.
