Captain America 4 is officially a go, with Anthony Mackie suiting up as Captain America. According to reports, Mackie has agreed to wield the shield and make his debut on the big screen as Captain America
Captain America 4 is set to be co-written by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier head writer Malcolm Spellman and staff writer Dalan Musson.
In April, it was first reported that a fourth Captain America was happening with Spellman and Musson. So far, there isn’t a director attached to the fourth film.
It is unclear whether the fourth film will feature Sebastian Stan, who co-starred with Mackie on FAWS or not, but as usual, Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios is keeping a tight lip on those kinds of details.
Mackie initially debuted as Sam Wilson/The Falcon in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which he reprised over the years for Marvel. At the end of Avengers: Endgame (Spoiler Alert), Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers handed over Captain America’s shield to Wilson. He then took over the mantle as the superhero in the Disney Plus series FAWS.
Mackie is currently filming We Have a Ghost, about a man who claims to have befriended a mostly harmless ghost who resembles actor Ernest Borgnine. The film also stars Jennifer Coolidge and David Harbour.
No word on the production start for Captain America 4.
