Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively in Negotiations for ‘A Simple Favor’

It appears that Anna Kendrick (Into the Woods) and Blake Lively (The Town) are currently in the process of joining the upcoming film A Simple Favor. With direction from Lionsgate, Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) and Jessie Henderson (Spy) will produce the film.

According to summaries and source material (written by author Darcey Bell), the film will be a thriller centering around two close friends in a little town, one of whom will go missing. It explores the dynamic and environment of a culture of maternity, suburbia, and rivalry between best friends with unexpected, terrifying agendas.

Lively seems like an apt casting for the film. In her earlier career, she acted alongside Leighton Meester in the CW television show Gossip Girl, where they played complex and warring best friends with a devilishly competitive streak. This movie sounds like a darker update to her earlier role, in which she can infuse a potentially more sinister edge to her performance. Lively also recently acted in the suspense film, In the Shallows, where she tries to escape a bloodthirsty shark.

Oscar and Tony-nominated Kendrick will act in the Trolls 2 movie, as well as in the much beloved Pitch Perfect series in the upcoming Pitch Perfect 3 film, for a behind-the-scenes trailer can be seen here.
