AFI Opening Night Film ‘Rules Don’t Apply’ Releases Final Teaser Trailer

At age 79, most directors would have settled comfortably into retirement. But Warren Beatty seems to be making a comeback with his new film Rules Don’t Apply, of which he wrote, directed, and stars in. The film, which will serve as opening night film at this year’s AFI Fest, is Beatty’s first film in 15 years. The latest trailer was released last week.

Warren Beatty, who is an acclaimed actor/director with a career spanning 60 years, is known for directing films Heaven Can Wait (1978) and Reds (1981), as well as starring and directing multiple other films.

Rules Don’t Apply takes place in classic 1950s Hollywood where it tells the story of a young starlet (Lily Collins) and a young car driver (Alden Ehrenreich) who struggle with their religious convictions as they navigate their feelings for each other and adapt to the fast-paced Hollywood lifestyle, all while trying to work with their eccentric billionaire boss Howard Hughes (Warren Beatty).

The film also stars Beatty’s wife, Annette Bening, as well as Alec Baldwin, Matthew Broderick, Ed Harris, Candice Bergen, and Martin Sheen.

Even if this proves to be Beatty’s last film, its stars Lily Collins and Alden Ehrenreich seem to have a bright future ahead of them. Collins will be starring in the upcoming drama To The Bone, playing an anorexic woman, while Ehrenreich will be portraying a young Han Solo in the untitled Star Wars spin-off, which is set to be released in 2018.

Rules Don’t Apply will premiere on opening night (November 10th) at the AFI Fest presented by Audi and set be released by 20th Century Fox on November 23rd.
