Adria Arjona Joins ‘Pacific Rim: Maelstrom’

According to Deadline, Adria Arjona (HBO’s True Detective) will join the cast of Legendary Pictures’ Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, the sequel to 2013’s science fiction monster film Pacific Rim which was written and directed by Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth). Del Toro will pen the sequel which will be directed by Steven S. DeKnight in his feature film directorial debut. Already in the cast are John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad), Tian Jing (Kong: Skull Island) and Cailee Spaeny (The Shoes).

Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni, and del Toro are producing, along with Boyega and Femi Oguns under their Upper Room Productions shingle. Cale Boyter is executive producing.

Arjona will be starring as Dorothy Gale in NBC’s upcoming series Emerald City, a re-telling of The Wizard of Oz. She will be seen next year in the action horror thriller The Belko Experiment. She is currently filming the comedy Life of the Party opposite Melissa McCarthy (Ghostbusters) and Julie Bowen (ABC’s Modern Family).

Pacific Rim: Maelstrom is currently in pre-production and will bow on February 23, 2018.

She lives in Los Angeles County, where "the sun shines bright, the beaches are wide and inviting, and the orange groves (used to) stretch as far as the eye can see" (quoting Sid in L.A. Confidential)
