Danny Glover Joins Chiwetel Ejiofor, Robert Redford in ‘Come Sunday’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Danny Glover (Supremacy) is the latest addition to the cast of Netflix’s Come Sunday, joining Academy Award-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange) and Academy Award winner Robert Redford (Pete’s Dragon). Joshua Marston (Maria Full of Grace) will helm from a screenplay penned by Marcus Hinchey (All Good Things).

Inspired by a true story and based on a 2005 This American Life episode, the film centers on Oklahoman evangelical minister Carlton Pearson (Ejiofor) and his controversial assertion that hell does not exist. Originally, the film was entitled Heretic. Glover will play Pearson’s uncle, Gilbert. Redford will take on the role of televangelist Oral Roberts.

Endgame’s James D. Stern is producing alongside This American Life’s Ira Glass and Alissa Shipp. Color Force’s Brad Simpson is executive producer. Julie Goldstein and Lucas Smith are overseeing the project for Endgame.

Glover was seen earlier this year in the sports drama Back in the Day. He has several projects in post production, including Long Day Journey, Killing Winston Jones, Extortion, Vagabonds, and Monster Trucks.

Come Sunday is in pre-production and is slated for release next year.
