Oscar and Grammy Award winning singer Adele may be giving acting a try in the near future. An exclusive from Screen Daily reports the British singer-songwriter is in talks to join the cast of Xavier Dolan‘s The Death and Life of John F. Donovan. The casting makes a certain degree of sense considering Dolan recently directed Adele’s music video for her recent single “Hello.”
“I’m sure I’ll get some flak for this, but I actually would like to act after working with Xavier. I would be in a film for him, definitely,” Adele recently revealed expressed on UK radio station Kiss FM. Killing her potential role in The Death and Life of John F. Donovan isn’t known however likely to be small supporting part. If she does join the cast, she will join an impressive ensemble that already includes Jessica Chastain (Crimson Peak), Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones) and Oscar winners Susan Sarandon (About Ray) and Kathy Bates (Tammy). The premise for the film centers around an American movie star whose correspondence with an 11-year-old actor is made public. This revelation takes a toll on his personal and professional life.
Dolan, a native of Quebec, previously directed cult favorites Mommy (a winner of the Jury Prize at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival), Tom at the Farm, Laurence Anyways and I Killed My Mother. He recently wrapped the French drama It’s Only the End of the World, feature that stars Oscar winner Marion Cotillard (Two Days, One Night) and Léa Seydoux (Spectre). The Death and Life of John F. Donovan is set to start filming next spring.
While Adele may be new in the acting world, she won both an Oscar and Golden Globe for the title song of the 2012 blockbuster Skyfall.
