Actor Charles Grodin Dies at 86

Actor Charles Grodin, best known for his roles in The Heartbreak Kid and Midnight Run has passed away at the age of 86, his son confirmed to The New York TimesThe actor died of bone marrow cancer.

Aside from starring in those classics, the actor won a Primetime Emmy for his work as a writer on The Paul Simon Special from 1977. He was also an accomplished author as well as a host of his own talk show, properly entitled The Charles Grodin Show, which was a short lived series in 1995.

Grodin did nearly everything in the entertainment industry and was an exemplary example of actors expanding their horizons into other creative fields. He starred in such films over his career like King Kong and the Beethoven franchise, while also balancing work as a writer, director, and producer in his early career alone.

Over the course of his nearly seven decade long career, the actor was involved in over seventy projects in film and TV, the final being An Imperfect Murder from 2017.

He lived a very long life, but it is still sad to see the multi-faceted actor leave this world.

Grodin is survived by his wife of 38 years, Elissa, and his son, Nicholas.
