‘Act of Valor’ Sequel Trades Navy SEALs for S.W.A.T.

Whenever a studio spends $12 million to make a movie that grosses $70 million it’s a good bet there will be a sequel. Such is the case with 2012’s Act of Valor. In addition to an upcoming television series based on the original film, Relativity Media and Bandito Brothers are already working on a sequel, this time about a team of S.W.A.T. police officers. While it has not yet been confirmed that the film will feature active duty S.W.A.T. officers, it is a good bet considering the original film featured active duty Navy SEALs.

While Act of Valor succeeded in inspiring admiration and respect for the men and women who serve our country in the military, the undeniable weak points of the film centered around the writing and acting. It appears that the sequel will not break from the formula. Although no actors have been attached to the project, it has been confirmed that film will be written and directed by Scott Wiper (The Condemned). While Wiper will be sure to produce an abundance of action and violence, his presence does not inspire confidence in the story.

Regardless of its cinematic qualities, the Act of Valor sequel is sure to honor a new group of individuals who protect and serve our nation.
