With their film Ain’t Them Bodies Saints just recently released, director David Lowery and star Casey Affleck are already planning their next collaboration. The project will be a sci-fi film entitled To Be Two, which is based on the short story by Paul Broks from his collection Into the Silent Land: Travels in Neuropsychology.
The plot centers on the concept of teleportation, which in the story can only take a person to Mars. However, the process includes making a copy of the person to send to the planet and then vaporizing the original. Questions arise when an error occurs and the machine does not delete the original human. Which person is the real one? How are they different? All the while the authorities are working to track down the original person and correct the error.
Affleck has been busy since his work on Ain’t Them Bodies Saints. He recently finished the crime thriller Out of the Furnace with Christian Bale, and is currently working on Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.
Out of the Furnace is scheduled for a December 6 release.
