47th Annual NAACP Image Award Winners

The 47th NAACP Image Awards were handed out Friday evening celebrating the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts. As the topic of diversity in Hollywood continues to spur heated debate and controversy, this years’ Image Awards perhaps felt certain specific charge. The Image Awards hand out honors celebrating work on film and television as well as recognize achievements from people of color in the recording and publishing industries. On the film side, Straight Outta Compton took top honors while Creed won the most prizes, including mention for leading actor Michael B. Jordan (also cited as the 2015 Entertainer of the Year), Best Supporting Actress (Phylicia Rashad), Best Directing (Ryan Coogler) and Best Writing (Coogler and Aaron Covington).
