It was a good night for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant which led the field at the 73rd Golden Globe Awards winning three top awards. The survivalist drama won Best Picture (Drama), Best Director; Leonardo DiCaprio also picked up a trophy for Best Actor (Drama) for his acclaimed leading turn. It was a night for some surprises, as the Globes (voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association) handed two prizes a piece for The Martian (winning for Best Picture, comedy, and for lead actor Matt Damon) and most surprisingly, Steve Jobs (for screenplay and Kate Winslet‘s supporting performance).
The most emotionally resonant moment of the evening may have come from Sylvester Stallone, who won Best Supporting Actor for returning to his signature role of Rocky Balboa in the well-received spin-off Creed. Stallone earned his first Golden Globe nomination back in 1977 for the original Rocky.
