Former Saturday Night Live alumnus Tracy Morgan is in talks to return to the big screen following a 15 month hiatus due to a severe car accident back in June 2014 which left the comedian with life threatening injuries, according to The Wrap.
The film is called Fist Fight, and already has Charlie Day and Ice Cube on board to star. It follows two school teachers who stir up drama with each other and plan to engage in a fist fight.
Sunday night’s Emmy Awards marked one of Morgan’s first public appearances since the accident. The last films he appeared in were Chris Rock’s 2014 comedy Top Five and the recently unearthed David O. Russell rom-com Accidental Love, released earlier this year.
If he and the studio can come to an agreement, Morgan will play the school’s coach.
Fist Fight also stars Jillian Bell (22 Jump Street) and Dean Norris (Litte Miss Sunshine). Richie Keen (TV’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) is slated to direct, which will make this his first time directing a feature film. The project features two other first-timers in Van Robichaux and Evan Susser, who have signed on to pen the script.
A release date has not yet been set for the title.
