Zac Efron and Amanda Seyfried To Star in Scooby-Doo Animated Film

Zac Efron and Amanda Seyfried will be joining the cast of the upcoming animated film Scoob, a Scooby-Doo feature film. According to Deadline, Efron will voice Fred and Seyfried will voice Daphne. The iconic Mystery Inc crew will be back on the big screen 16 years after the live-action Scooby-Doo film Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed was released. The gang will be facing the evil Dick Dastardly, a character that has appeared across several series produced by Hanna-Barbera, who also produced Scooby-Doo. The first episode aired September 1969.

Tim Cervone, who was involved with films such as Space Jam and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, will be directing Scoob.

Other voice actors that were previously announced for the film include Will Forte, who will be voicing Shaggy, Scooby’s closest companion, Frank Welker will voice Scoob, and Gina Rodriguez will be playing Velma.

Seyfried was recently seen in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. She will be starring in The Art of Racing in the Rain with Kevin Costner and David Koepp’s You Should Have Left. Efron played the serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile and starred in Harmony Korine’s comedy Beach Bum.

Warner Bros. has set the film’s release for May 2020.
