Writer Nic Pizzolatto On Board To Write For Marvel’s ‘Blade’

Marvel’s Blade has undergone many changes and has been delayed from its original release date. However, it seems the project is getting back on its feet and ready to start production soon. Blade is a remake of the film of the same name that was released in the early 2000s. Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan created the character. Blade is a hybrid human-vampire who hunts vampires to avenge his mother.

Today it was revealed that a new writer is on board for the project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nic Pizzolatto has been working on the script. Pizzolatto is the creator of the anthology series True Detective.

The latest script for the film was penned by Michael Starrbury (When They See Us), and Pizzolatto would be re-writing it in a few weeks, according to sources. Pizzolatto was a fiction writer dedicated to novels and short stories; he transitioned to scriptwriting and became known for HBO’ True Detective.

Other recent announcements involving the film are updated to the casting. It was announced that Mia Goth and Delroy Lindo were added to the project. Mahershala Ali will play the title character, and Yann Demange will direct the project.

Production is set to start in late May and will shoot for a 2024 release.
