Willa Fitzgerald, an actress who’s previously starred in John Crowley’s 2019 drama The Goldfinch and USA’s series Dare Me, has been cast in Randall Emmett’s new action-thriller Wash Me in the River alongside Robert De Niro, John Malkovich, and Jack Huston. The film is written by Adam Taylor Barker and is shooting in Georgia and Puerto Rico.
Wash Me in the River tells the story of a recovering opioid addict who seeks out revenge against the dealers responsible for selling the drugs that caused his fiancé’s death. Fitzgerald will play Ruby Red, a young woman and ex-drug addict whose recovery is threatened by a bitter drug dealer.
The film will be Emmett’s directorial debut. The filmmaker has previously worked as a producer on some of Martin Scorsese’s films like The Irishman and Silence. He also produced the 2015 adventure film Everest and David Ayer’s 2012 crime drama, End of Watch.
Fitgerald is mostly known for her work in television on shows like Scream: The TV Series and PBS’s 2017 mini-series based on Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel, Little Women, where she played Meg March. It’s not currently clear when the new action-thriller will release. Wash Me in the River’s IMDB page says that the film is currently in post-production.
