Jesse Eisenberg’s directorial debut, When You Finish Saving The World, adds Billy Bryk (Wynonna Earp) to join with already announced Julianne Moore (The Glorias) and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) earlier this year. This upcoming film is a mother-son comedy-drama scripted by Eisenberg and produced by Emma Stone (Cruella) and SNL writer-director Dave McCary, including Moore for this project.
The film is inspired by Eisenberg’s Audible project titled the same, and it is unclear what the plot of the film is but that it would have a somewhat different core from the audiobook. Eisenberg wrote the script and starred in the audiobook. The audiobook is set over three decades. The six-part audio show tracks three family members: there is Nathan, a father who’s learning to connect with his infant son; Rachel, a young college student who’s searching to find a place in her relationship with Nathan and life; and then there is Ziggy, a teenager who’s hoping to figure out where he comes from and where he is going in life. The transitions between time periods in these characters’ lives capture the nuances of growing up, raising children, and fitting in this crazy world.
Bryk’s upcoming projects are Ghostbusters: Afterlife and opioid drama Dreamland.
