Weekend Box Office: ‘Black Adam’ Leads Again, ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ Enters Top 10

Black Adam, the latest DC film starring Dwayne Johnson as the title character is leading the box office once more this weekend. Since its release, the film has been the most watched for three weekends in a row, generating $137.3 million in North America and $319 million globally. This feature is the 11th film of DC extended universe and a spin-off of Shazam!.

The antihero adventure has improved DC’s latest Box office performance with 2021’s The Suicide Squad, and it could soon pass 2019’s success Shazam!. Black Adam had a large production budget of $195 million. It is expected that its sales may decrease next weekend because of the release of the expected Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Among other titles that have been successful during the weekend is One Piece Film: Red. The anime feature distributed by Crunchyroll takes the second box office place this week collecting $9.475 million. Even though it is still far from the successful opening weekend of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, the amount is still impressive for a film with a specific audience.

The romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney entitled Ticket to Paradise would take the third spot with $8.5 million. The 4th, 5th and 6th spot are for horror movies: Smile, Prey For the Devil and Terrifier 2 respectively.

Surprisingly, The Banshees of Inisherin reached 7th spot this weekend after opening broadly in more cinemas. The British dark comedy  that stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson is far away from being a Blockbuster and has collected $3 million domestically so far.

Over the weekend the box office grossed $59.4 million, which is expected to change next week with the arrival of  Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The predictions for the opening weekend of the new Marvel film is between $175 million and $200 million.
