The work of Jane Austen is getting a new violent take early next year with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and we have the teaser trailer to prove it.
Based on the 2009 parody book of the same name by Seth Grahame-Smith, which is itself an adaptation of Austen’s 1813 novel Pride and Prejudice, the film will see the tale of two lovers from different walks of life battling the hoards of the undead, along with social tensions.
The film stars Lily James (Cinderella) as the beloved Elizabeth Bennet and Sam Riley (Maleficent) as the seemingly pompous Mr. Darcy. Other cast members include Lena Headey (300), Matt Smith (Terminator Genisys), Jack Huston (American Hustle), Douglas Booth (Noah) and Charles Dance (The Imitation Game).
This trailer gives us just a sample of the with sword wielding, musket shooting action in the upcoming film.
2005 saw the most recent large-scale adaptation of Austen’s original novel in the film Pride and Prejudice starring Keira Knightley as Bennet and Matthew Macfadyen as Darcy.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies hits theaters February 5, 2016.
